November marks the beginning of NaNoWriMo for some writers. What is it you ask?
It is a challenge for anyone to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. It is meant to encourage you to glue your backside to a seat and just write. DONT EDIT. Just write.
That's 1666 words a day. Yes you read that correctly - a day!
Don't let those numbers scare you. There are motivators along the way. You earn virtual badges each time you hit a certain word count. There are group forums to check in with to keep you going. Plus you can meet up with people in your area and write together.
Some people participate to see if they can write a novel. Others have had an idea bubbling around for a while. This is a great way to see how those ideas will come together. A few participants join up for the enjoyment of connecting with other writers and networkers.
To anyone participating I say, keep your pencil sharp and your backside cushioned - GOOD LUCK!
