I was lucky enough to get a copy of Fairy May and read it with my two children. They came up with a couple of very original questions for me to ask the auhor, Jo Linsdell.

How long does it take to become a tooth fairy?
As with most jobs you need to go through training first to learn everything and then of course you need to pass the test to show you can do it all. All this takes some time so probably a few months at least.

Why doesn't the tooth fairy have a tooth on her dress?
In the book Fairy May only passes her test and becomes a tooth fairy at the end so she hasn't been given her uniform yet.

Can only girls be a tooth fairy?
No. Boys can be too.

Where does she keep the teeth?
When she goes into service as an active tooth fairy she will be given her uniform and a special bag for collecting the teeth in.

Fairy May is a rhyming children's picture story book about a fairy called May that dreams of one day becoming a tooth fairy. She struggles at school and always seems to get things wrong but with hard work and determination she prepares for her tooth fairy exam.
